From Waste to Product: Exploring the Waste-to-Product Potential Across the Fund’s Enterprises

The waste-to-product concept is transforming the traditional view of industrial waste by turning it into a source of new products and solutions. Within this agenda, SK Ondeu, together with EPSE Oy, conducted a series of working meetings and site visits to industrial facilities. The delegation visited the Khorasan-2 mine (Baiken-U) jointly with representatives of Kazatomprom, the Tau-Ken Altyn together with representatives of Tau-Ken Samruk, and also carried out a visit to Ekibastuz GRES-1, including its ash and slag disposal sites. During the visits, the applicability of EPSE technologies for industrial waste processing, wastewater treatment, and recovery of valuable components, including rare metals, was assessed. The next stage involves developing pilot testing to confirm the technological and economic feasibility of the proposed solutions. Such initiatives directly support the ESG agenda by reducing environmental impact, improving resource efficiency, and creating new economic opportunities.
