As part of the implementation of its Development Strategy in agrochemistry, SK Ondeu presented the results of its own research and development (R&D) efforts at the agricultural fairs “Zhana Dala – Green Day,” held in the Akmola and Kostanay regions.
At the SK Ondeu booth, the company showcased products aimed at increasing crop yields and reducing phytosanitary risks in agriculture, including:
- Fungicide based on hydrophilic colloidal sulfur, designed for effective protection of fruit, vegetable, flower crops, and grapes against powdery mildew, scab, oidium, plant mites, and other pathogens;
- IAFS – Insecto-Acaro-Fungicidal Solution, a multifunctional product that simultaneously combats insects, mites, and fungal plant diseases;
- Humic organo-mineral fertilizers, which stimulate plant growth and strengthen the immunity of agricultural crops.
The effectiveness of these products has been confirmed by trials conducted by the Research Institute for Plant Protection and Quarantine, the Institute of Farming and Crop Production, and KazAgroInnovation JSC. The trials showed that corn yields increased by 30–40%, while the prevalence of crop diseases decreased by 80–92%.
These products are manufactured using sulfur and oxidized coal, which are by-products of associated processing. This approach promotes resource efficiency, reduces environmental impact, and supports the development of zero-waste technologies in line with the principles of a green economy.
The showcased products are the result of an R&D project funded by the Samgau Center for Science and Technology Initiatives — the single operator for scientific and technical activities within the Samruk-Kazyna group. The Center supports scientific initiatives and applied research. Currently, SK Ondeu and the Center are working together to select R&D initiatives for the implementation of future projects in the agrochemical and petrochemical sectors.
“We see great potential in developing our own agrochemical solutions tailored to Kazakhstan’s specific climate and soil conditions. This will give agricultural producers access to effective and cost-efficient domestically manufactured products,”
— said Daniyar Mauletov, Chairman of the Management Board of SK Ondeu.
