As part of the visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Kazan, an agreement was signed on the construction of the production of butadiene and its derivatives

During the visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Kazan, the Government of Kazakhstan, JSC Samruk-Kazyna and PJSC Tatneft signed an agreement on the construction of a plan for production of butadiene and its derivatives. The project promises to contribute to the development of the industrial sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan, creating new jobs and contributing to the diversification of the economy.  
The project participants—SK Ondeu LLP and Tatneft PJSC—plan to establish production of various types of products, including:
    Styrene butadiene styrene thermoplastic elastomer: up to 30 thousand tons
    Divinyl styrene synthetic rubber: up to 60 thousand tons
    Isobutane of the isobutylene fraction: up to 130 thousand tons
    Methyl tert-butyl ether: up to 40 thousand tons
    Butadiene: up to 45 thousand tons.

The project will be implemented in Atyrau region on the territory of the NIPT SEZ from 2022 to 2026 and will create more than 2,200 jobs during construction and 754 during operation.
The manufactured products will find wide application in various fields, including the production of rubber and polymers, automobile tires and rubber products, raw materials for chemical products, including as an additive to motor fuels, etc.  
The project not only contributes to strengthening the industrial potential of Kazakhstan, but also opens up new export opportunities, expanding the country’s economic prospects.
