Samruk-Kazyna Ondeu LLP has launched the first R&D project for the production of sulfur fungicides for agriculture.

Oil and gas produced in the West of Kazakhstan contain a large amount of sulfur impurities. When processing raw materials, the issue of its disposal becomes acute.

The laboratory based on Kazakh British Technical University in Almaty, is conducting research on ways to obtain fungicides from lump sulfur. They help fight fungal diseases of plants and contribute to the development of agriculture.

The results of the scientific project will also give impetus to the development of the production of high-tech drugs of a new generation in demand in Kazakhstan with the possibility of import substitution. Industrial production is planned to be established on the basis of the sulfuric acid plant of SSAP LLP in Stepnogorsk (a subsidiary of Samruk-Kazyna Ondeu LLP). This will contribute to the waste-free use of resources and create new jobs for highly qualified specialists.

SSAP LLP is the operator of the project for the reconstruction of a sulfuric acid plant with a production capacity of 194 thousand tons of 93% commercial sulfuric acid per year.
